Chromatography & Purification
Affinity chromatography is an important tool to purify biological molecules such as enzymes, antibodies, and receptor proteins. The principle of affinity purification is based on the specific interactions between different molecules, like the interaction of antibody and antigen, receptor and ligand, enzyme and substrate, or enzyme and inhibitor. The conventional method for the purification of proteins is very laborious and the yields are often very low. Alternatively, affinity chromatography is very specific, takes much less time, and the purified protein is of high quality with high yield and specific activity.
